This section shares stories that interconnect the cultures and peoples of Alaska, Hawai`i, and Salem. Accompany the Hawaiian chief Ka`iana on his journey to China and stand beside Elizabeth Peratovich, a young Tlingit woman, as she fights against racism and discrimination in Alaska. Learn about the famous Salem navigator and sailor Nathaniel Bowditch and his lasting contributions to our knowledge of the sea.
